My friends say that is about an apt nickname as anyone could ever hope to find and . . . I guess they’re right. I’ve rambled around all over the world the past few years, gone everywhere from St. Louis to Sudan and Lebanon and just about everywhere in between. Just in the past couple of years alone, I’ve “settled down” in Tucson, Las Vegas and now I’m in St. Louis. This is my home state, Missouri, and most of my family is around here someplace so I’m hoping that this time . . . this time it’ll ‘stick’ and my ramblin days are over. I spent 3 of my early years in the Marine Corps and still call myself “Marine”. That experience instilled in me values and pride that no other experience possibly could. It’s a title I worked hard to obtain, nobody can ever take it away from me and I am very proud to have earned the right to call myself “Marine”. What’s unique about the Marine Corps is that it’s a brotherhood of strangers. I somehow often spot a fellow Marine in a crowded public place and – without introduction but just a simple nod of the head – we recognize each other as who we are and know we are not alone in that place. Earning the Eagle, Globe and Anchor was the most challenging thing I’ve done and if I had to do it all over again . . . without question I would do it all over again.
One thing about me, I like to speak my mind. Those of you who know me are nodding your heads in agreement and either laughing me or cursing me right about now. So when it was suggested that I start a blog, I thought that it would be a good way to vent some and put a few of my ideas out for others to read – or not. Thus, the genesis of RamblinManDan.
I’d appreciate it if you would leave your comments about any of the posts you care to. It doesn’t matter if you agree or disagree with what I have to say because I’ll say it anyway and I hope you would do the same. The other thing I’d appreciate is, if you like what you read and want to read it on a regular basis, suscribe to RamblinManDan. It’s quick, easy and you’ll get an email with each update.
That’s it, hope you enjoy reading RamblinManDan.
